I was dealt A-K three consecutive times! One was suited, the other two weren't. What do you suppose the odds are of that?

(I lost money on two of the three hands).

  1. ug, can't figure out the math. it's pretty low, but not as low as you might think. less than 1 chance out of 10k i estimate.

  2. The odds of getting an A-K on a given hand is

    2/13 x 1/13 = 0.0118 or 1.18%

That makes the odds of getting A-K on the next two hands after you have already gotten it once

    0.0118 x 0.0118 = 0.00014 or 0.014% or roughly 7,100 to 1

The odds of getting A-K on three particular hands, such as the next three hands, is

    0.0118 x 0.0118 x 0.0118 = 0.00000166 or 0.000166% or roughly 600,000 to 1

  3. very low

  4. i'm surprised you didn't lose all 3

  5. i dont know thats happened a few times to me i would guess its somwhere around 1 in 60,000
