  1. Look up a recipe(on line) for broccoli slaw, it calls for ramen noodles too, its a very easy recipe and really crunchy and good.  The recipe looks weird but it is quite good.

  2. 7 layer or Taco Dip.

Taco meat, shredded lettuce, guacamole, taco shredded cheese, sour cream or cream cheese, tomatoes, salsa, refried beans, all layered in a large pan rectangular pan.

Serve with tortilla chips.  Yum yum.

  3. Rice salad easy, jut mix cooked cold rice with any veg, onions you have and add a dressing.

Pre cook courgettes and mix them in a bowl with garlicy dressing.

Tinned red kidney beans with dressing and diced onions

Home made coleslaw and potatoe salad great, so many people like but dont have time to make

Tomatoe and sliced mortarella with balsamic vinegar

    Pasta shells with bbq sauce

    Hope these few help

  4. The most obvious bbq food of all time, watermelons! Whole ones are super cheap right now, and easy to slice up. Everybody likes watermelon, too! That's what I would serve.

  6. Tabbouleh

    INGREDIENTS

    140 g bulgur wheat

    395 ml boiling water

    80 ml olive oil

    80 ml lemon juice

    100 g chopped green onions

    60 g chopped fresh parsley

    6 g chopped fresh mint

    3 tomatoes, chopped

1 cucumber - peeled, seeded and chopped

    6 g salt

    ground black pepper to taste

    DIRECTIONS

Combine bulgur and boiling water in a large bowl. Cover, and set aside to soak for 1 hour.

Add oil, lemon juice, onions, parsley, mint, tomatoes, and cucumber; toss to combine. Season to taste with salt and black pepper. Cover, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.

  7. Rice salad is always popular and try adding a little curry powder to the water when cooking for a variation

Cooked baby boiled potatoes, cooled and tossed in a little yoghurt

Pea salad - cooked peas, grated cheese and chopped bacon bits, tossed in ranch dressing

And I'd add a big plate of mixed cheeses

Also, check the bakery counter at your local store and pick up a selection of different breads - this one always goes down well and is a nice change to the usual burger buns

  8. All the sides we do when we ahve a bbq party are bbq'd corn, jacket potatoes , tomato and onion salad, potato salad, pasta salad, rice salad, coleslaw, devilled eggs, greek salad.

  9. Hot drinks, lassi etc

  10. Cheese and pineapple on sticks, sausage rolls, crisps, sliced pork pie, cheesy bread, olives, potato salad, pretzels, sweetcorn and tuna mix, bread sticks, mini pizzas, tiny scotch eggs.

  11. ok well we had a mexican fiesta for about 50 people, we just got loads of corn chips and made our own salso(you probably wont want to make it for 50 people, i had to peel and dee-seed 90 large tomatoes) and guacamole, and we also made 2 large bowls of chilli con carne, but my favorite is the quesadillas, very simple to do, you just need a lot of flour tortillas and cheese and maybe spring onions, and red pepper.. then you dry fry them until they melt inside for about 2-3 minutes after they melt...mmmm quik and easy, you just need a food processor with a grater attchment, we had to gratre 6 LARGE blocks of cheese and it took me about 10 minutes. i will come back with other things i have to go to do dinner!

  12. ckicken wings taste good hot or cold

    chicken nuggets

blackbean and corn salad-mix cans of black beans with corn, cut some red onion, chop cilantro, add some lemon juice and mix..

    coleslaw

    deviled eggs

    cocktail sausages

    corn on the cob

    watermelon

    fruit salad

    crackers

    plate of different cheeses

  13. An easy stand by is deviled eggs of couse, but I make PIN WHEELS.

You simply take tortilla shells, like the soft taco shells, lay them flat, smear them with cream cheese.  Then you can add diced onion, green pepper, ham or any kind of meat, or whatever your imagination says to.  I like to add deli thin ham laid flat, it makes them pretty, and so does finely diced green onion.  I have seen pimentos used.  Then, roll that baby up and slice it into finger food putting a toothpick in each piece.  These are pretty, easy, cheap and delicious not to mention a wonderful thing to set out while everyone is mingling to nibble on!

  14. FRUIT SALAD

Scoop out 1/2 watermelon, and refill with cubed melons, different berries, pineapple chunks.  Garnish with sliced starfruit & fresh mint

This salad is my favorite for buffets, because you serve it hot, cold or room temp:

    ARTICHOKE RICE SALAD

1 package chicken flavored rice mix (like Rice-a-Roni)

    2 green onions, thinly sliced

    1/2 green pepper, chopped

    8 pimento-sliced olives, thinly sliced

1 6-oz. jars marinated artichoke hearts, cut up

    1/4 tsp. curry

    1/3 c. mayonnaise

Make rice per package instructions.  Mix all other ingredients into hot rice to thoroughly blend.  Serve hot, cold or room temp... Serves 10-15

    HAWAIIAN COLE SLAW

    c. shredded cabbage

    1 c. crushed pineapple, drained

    1 c. sour cream

    2 TB sugar

    1 TB vinegar

    2 TB mayonnaise

    salt & pepper to taste

Mix all ingredients together well and chill .......

    This is a family favorite:

    FRUIT AMBROSIA

    2 c. heavy whipping cream

    1/2 c. sugar

    1 tsp. vanilla

    1/2 tsp. almond extract

1 large can mandarin oranges, drained

2 large cans fruit cocktail, drained

    3-5 c. miniature marshmellows

Beat cream, sugar & extracts to very stiff peaks.  Fold in fruit & marshmellows.  Chill .....  Serves 8-12

All of these things could be made the day ahead

  15. You could do bowls of salsa, coleslaw, carrot salad which are nice with bbq food.  Also have a selection of bread or rolls - you don't need to do anything with those!  Hope it goes well.

  16. different types of salad, such as cous cous salad, chick pea salad, potato salad, coleslaw etc.

Toasted pitta breads are good as an alternative to bread and rolls.

a good home made barbecue sauce is worth making - like a tomato sauce with some sugar, vinegar, mustard powder etc in it.  that always goes down well.

Also some nicely cooked rice, served cold (i.e. fry an onion, add some spices in including bay leaves, caradmoms, cloves, turmeric or saffron) and then add the water and cook.

Dips such as humous, cheese and chive, gaucamole, salsa etc.

    Have fun!

  17. potato salad?

cous cous? (is that how its spelt!)

    ermmm

dips with carrots, cucumber celery e.c.t

    good luck!!!

  18. Tinned beans, corn... quick, easy, cheap... really cheap!
