Question:

Holding hands - Is interlocking fingers more intimate?

Simple question about adult body language; is interlocking fingers more intimate that ordinary hand holding, and should it be reserved for hubby/wife bf/gf rather than friends. Personally, I think that you send out a bit of a message when threading your fingers through somebody elses.

  1. i agree. i dont like to hold my husbands hand if we're not interlocked, its too impersonal. u hold hands normally for example when u play trust games at work, or when u help a kid cross the street.. interlocked hands is more special definately!!

  2. i don't think just friends should use it because it is intimate

  3. What do you think?  There are no hard and fast rules on intimacy.

  4. Yes it is...but interlocking of other body parts is more fun

  5. Not necessarily, no. In some cases it can be, in others not. It's kind of about experience. If you have held hands both ways with your friends and family and then with a significant other too, it wouldn't feel more intimate.

Plus, let's not forget that intimacy is a feeling. Not a motion or a doing.

  6. it defo is

  7. If you want it to be.

You could make sitting in a room with a few metres in between you and your spouse intimate, if you wanted.

The only reason it sends out a message is because the other person gets all caught up in wondering why you're doing something different, and thus - starts thinking 'intimate' thoughts.

  8. Generally speaking, I would agree, but it's not always the case. Different people take things in different ways so what it means to you or how it makes you feel isn't necessarily what the person you're holding hands with will think. I, personally find that it's not so much intimacy but closeness. I will interlock fingers with my daughter sometimes as well as with my husband.

  9. ya definitly its more intamite. Holding hands regular is for your kids or girlfriends to girlfriends. But if im in love im locking her! lol

  10. Definitely - there is more contact.  I feel much more connected.  I only interlock fingers with my wife, not with others.

  11. yes i think so :)
