Holding speaks out against WICB’s treatment of senior players – Cricket News Update
Cricket commentator and former http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Michael-Anthony-Holding-c75756, has spoken out against the West Indies Cricket Board’s treatment of senior players, saying talented cricketers are being kept out of the squad owing to behind-the-scenes politics.
The 58-year-old pinpointed Chris Gayle, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/RR-Sarwan-c2371, and Jerome Taylor – all of whom are absent from the Windies line-up for their ongoing Test series against England.

However, his gesture, while appreciated by the WICB, was largely unnecessary, with the board maintaining that residual matters needed to be cleared up before the 32-year-old could rejoin the squad.
“He is available, yet the WICB are still putting out press releases saying there are residual matters to be dealt with. What residual matters?” Holding said while speaking to
SportsMax, a Jamaica-based cable network, going on to add that those responsible for West Indies cricket were reluctant to include http://www.senore.com/Cricket/CH-Gayle-c1221 in the team.
Speaking about Sarwan, who is currently having a successful run with County club http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Leicestershire-c807, Holding pointed out that it was ideal to have such a talented player in the national squad, it was also unlikely that the right-hander would give up his current
position to risk returning to the national team, where he was likely to get no encouragement.
“…I don't see him leaving that now to go back to a situation where he is going to be unhappy, because he knows he's not wanted.”
