Holding the Quran and reading verses of it during Nafl Prayer. Permissible? If so, how is it done?

how do you define nafl ?

Pre write the verses and then during as salat pick some short surrahs typically found in the end of the Qu'ran and either memorize them or have the sheet of paper nearby your prayer rug..unless I am wrong and need to be corrected I have done this as long as you do not move your chest and body from the direction of Kaaba you may glance at and recite the verses.

No, that is not permissible.Many people are been seen doing this but its wrong.in Nafil prayers, you can read the memorized verses. and you can learn them, make efforts in learning them, Allah will help inshaAllah~!

I think the best thing to do would be to memorize whatever you want to recite in Nafl salaat and pray it that way.  While offering salaat, you want to be wholly engrossed in Allah, and want to avoid any potential distractions, i.e. holding a book

Only time the Glorious Book is allowed in hand during a salat is during taraweeh.

Because no one wants to look at the ground for 2 straight hours.
