Hole in One?

I just wanted to know, when did you guys get your first hole in one?

Did you take a while and actually try for the Hole in One, or did it just happen when you took a shot?

Also, would you call it your greatest shot?

  1. Still waiting for my first and I have been playing for 20 years!  My closest in 3"...

  2. i witnessed 2 hole in ones. the 1st happened at night under the lights at a par 3 course. the guy sculled the shot ans skipped it over the water. we were looking 40 yards past the hole. the 2nd one happened when my cousin who has no skill at all. sorry, hit a pitching wedge and it hit and rolled right in. we played another 9 holes and on the same hole he hit the shot 1 inch short of falling in. my best shot was when i hit a 9 iron and put some spin on it where it hit the slope and rolled within 2 inches of the cup. the shot felt so good

  3. I made my first hole in one in my fifth year.  I was flag hunting.  It was early morning and the sun was directly behind the #6 hole at 150 yards.  It was my second round wearing contact lenses and I was having trouble seeing the ball once it got out there.  I hit first.  A solid 8 iron.  I initially found the ball, in the air, after contact.  I saw the line and I look down at the flag.  I saw it was on line.  I looked back up to find the ball, but was blinded by the sun.  So I put my hand up to block the sun and just looked at the flag.  I saw it hit close, roll a little, and "appeared" to disappear.  But my contacts were blurry and no one said anything.  So I just assumes it was in a swell or behind the flag stick.  As the other three guys hit, I could clearly see their balls, but I didn't want to say anything.  As we walked to the green, I knew it wasn't long.  I didn't see a swell, and it wasn't on the collar.  About 40 yards from the green, I could see my ball mark.  It was about 6 inch beyond the hole and a little to the right.  At that point, I knew there was a good chance it was in the cup.  I made the announcement, and the guys were like "No way!"  But I walked straight to the cup, there it was, Titleist ProV1 4 with a red dot. It's sitting on my bookcase in my office.  Titleists sent me a free hole in one bag tag since I made it with one of their products.  The course also gave me a plaque with a picture of the hole with my name and date on it.   It was a great feeling. It ranks high on my best shots list.  It took a little skill and lots of luck.

  4. Still waiting on my first, but I did read that the average age of a person getting his first hole in one is 44 years old

  5. I have one hole in one in my life.  A par 3, 167 yds.  I think I swished it because I didn't see it bounce on the green at all.  Best shot of my life by far.

  6. I shot a hole in one on a par 3 190 yards after 8 years of playing.

  7. At the time, I had played golf for about 10 years without getting even one. Then in the span of 4 months I got 2. In both cases I played a knock-down 8-iron. In both cases I actually intended to hit the low shot that would land on the front of the green and run up to the hole. It wasn't what I would call my best shot ever, just one that I can rely on.

  8. #1 I was 13 on a par three. I chose the wrong club, hit it too hard. went right past the green. hit a building popped it back up on the green and in the hole. I call it my happy gillmore, I still don't believe it.

#2 Again I was on a par 3 hit it short on the green sloping away from me the ball had a lot of backspin it slowly rolled across the green and dropped in the hole.

The first one was unbelievable but it was an accident I think it was just luck and geometry not my greatest shot. the second I think was more skill, but it just happened. I think it is the law of averages and if you put enough balls on the green one is bound to go in.

It bugs the h**l out of my golf buddy that I have two hole in ones but no eagles. He collects his Eagle balls I think he has 14 now but no hole in ones. He is a very competitive guy and it helps me ti psych him out on the fairway.

  9. Rolsenn...FYI:

A hole in one on a par three IS an Eagle, so you actually have two of them.

  10. Still waiting on my first one , my closest was about a Half an Inch from dropping , and that was on a downhill 356 yard par 4 , that would have been awesome!! I have witnessed a few over my 15 years of playing , if it comes it comes if it does not oh well I still Love this game.
