Hole in pipe?

I had a guy come out to check out our A/C unite and the pipe going to the compressor has a hole and the compressor dose not start dose any one know a way I can fix it my self ?

  1. add some kind of water proof putty to it and that should work.


  2. Not for DIY.

    Will be an expensive repair if it's a compressor. The line is an easier fix.

    Probably $800 - $1000.00 repair.

    You might want a second opinion in case they missed something.

    A new unit would be in order if the compressor isn't in warranty.

  3. That's one that I would let the pro fix, he should be able to sleeve the pipe but the recharging of the unit is not legal except by a pro.........you are not suppose to drain them...but I have...and then disposed of the unit........but it is illegal

  4. What did the service man tell you? You would not be able to repair it yourself because there are specialty tools required to change a compressor and you have to be licensed to buy refrigerant.

  5. If there is a hole in the compressor piping, all the freon has leaked out.  It takes special equipment to fix AC equipment.  Call a AC repairman.
