The Holeshot is the first person to the first corner of a motocross or supercross race. When the gate drops in the beginning of a motocross or supercross race every rider gets off the gate as fast as they can to get to the first turn. The person who gets to the first corner and out of it first gets the holeshot. In motocross they usually don't have holeshot prizes but in supercross they do because it is watched more than motocross.

Okay it depends they normally refer to holeshots as the area between starting gate and the first turn generally and the rider who is in the lead at that point they say that they got the wholeshot. But there is also a tirebrand named wholeshot tires.

First one to the first corner..  Many race series have prize money for whoever gets the holeshot.  Davi Millsaps was first around the first corner at San Diego Supercross about a week ago and took out the progressive holeshot award and got $1,500.00 for it.
