Holiday/Float Fishing Advice

i have just re-started the hobby of fishing and need some advice about floats. my uncle has given me some advice but i think i need more.

my uncle told me that there was a type of float that you could attach to your line and adjust its height with a wedge. he says it is an old float so you may no longer be able to get hold of one. but is it still possible?

i am going to swanage on a family holiday and i want to go fishing. but i was told that float fishing is the most successful. but i have never used a float before so need some advice on what type of float to use and how to start float fishing. it could be off of rocks/ peirs, etc.

also what type of bait is the best and for what type of fish??

thanks in advance

  1. yes they are clear plastic and the center on it is a moveable tube shaped wedge life so it will snugly stay in place with what ever amount of water you put into it to suspend it in the lake or river or stream I do use it on streams where it is too narrow (because of overgrowth and tree hangovers) to fly fish and yet flys is all the fish will take. so I have a minicast system in a holster from daiwa, it was made thirty years ago. I always have on my belt when trout (fly) fishing. It allows me to fish areas prohibiting most all other anglers and that little clear bobber gets my fly deep enough to get it down to the needing to eat trout sitting there hiding on the bottom in the shade. Sometimes they take it and sometimes they don't.
