If you need emergency treatment abroad pay the doctor and are told to go to the hospital quickly and you have an insurance form are you supposed to pay and get the money off the insurace company later or what?

  3. As long as you have your insurance documents with you, you pay the excess upfront then the hospital claim off the insurance.

  4. No. You purchase travel insurance so that you avoid paying out of pocket expenses. You will be given a policy with the policy number written on it. If you are sick and have to go to the hospital, you just give them the policy number and who you are insured with and everything will be taken care of right away by hospital.

  5. Most holiday insurance companies provide a 24 hour emergency number - you should call it as soon as possible and get advice. If you do not then you are taking the risk that the costs will not be reimbursed.
