  1. If you are after good weather the Canaries are a good option.  I've been to La Gomera which is beautiful, much much less touristy than the larger islands, but it depends what you are after!

Or, head to the slopes.  France, Italy, Switzerland...get some skiing/snowboarding in - will make a change from Iraq.  I am off to Canada snowboarding with my boyfriend on boxing day - can't wait!

Or for a romantic winter break you could go to Prague.  Or for a hot beach holiday maybe South Africa.

  2. Tenerife - Good night life and when I went at Xmas time hot enough to sun bathe and be in the pool.

  3. lanzarote, allways sure of good weather, been there the past three christmas,if you like christmas dont go ,not abit like christmas there

  4. Hi, My brother was in Iraq for 3 years ( mentoring and with his regiment ) and when he came home at Xmas all he wanted to do was spend it with the family.  I think it would be a good idea to spend Xmas with your boyferiend's family and than  you and your boyfriend can go and spend the New Year together.

As people have said the Canaries are nice at that time of year but do also check out the south of Spain. Cyprus is nice but don't forget that it is a British deployment base as well. So, he may not want to see military people.

These websites might be of some help. First why don't you try the sierra in Cadiz, Spain. I know you are looking for something further afield but you might be surprised.

You can stay in several different villages and just chill out. Look at Grazelma, El Bosque, Olivar, Medina Sidonia.

They are a bit off the beaten track, but that's what makes them so nice.

    This website should help you.

To get there you fly to either Jerez or Malaga if your further south. These places are relaxing but after Iraq that's what many service people want. We haven't been through what they have so we sometimes don't understand what they have endured!

If you don't fancy the mountains try Los Caños de la Meca it isn't your typical spanish tourist spot. It's well known to the spanish themselves & also seen as a bit of a surfers paradise. You get all sorts there from the surfers to the well to do spanish. Many young people go there to camp out on the beach or at the camping site there.

It's a bit out of the way so you don't have all the mod cons of the Costa del Sol / Luz but that's part of it's charm.

A lot of spanish who go there normally own something there so there aren't too many hotels to choose from. You probably need to hire a car and it might be considered a bit basic for your normal tourist but the beaches make up for that. Plus your close to Barbate & Tarifa.

Also think about the Costa Del Luz. Check out Rota in Cadiz and look up the Hotel Playa de la Luz there. You might be surprised. You fly to Jerez to get there.

There are more some more hotels in Rota, Chipiona,Conil & Chiclana, all have a lively night life!

Puerto Santa Maria has some lovely hotels so do check it out before you dismiss it.

You should check out hotels in Tarifa,Caños de la Meca and Barbate for any special offers.

    Good luck!!

  5. At home in England, with family & Friends.

  6. the Canaries would be good as they're fairly warm all year round.

  7. Yeah, Tenerife is probably the best place to go!! It's very nice here in Cyprus at Christmas, but I have to say, although it is often advertised as a year-round holiday destination....a lot of places close down compleyely from October to April....and although it can be lovely and warm in the daytime...the temperatures can drop dramatically at night!

  8. Ask him where he wants to spend Christmas maybe with his family, You will say Iam his family  I say no he has a wider life than just you..I take it hes in the forces On the dark side this couldbe his last Christmas and you would feel dreadful  if

you had stopped him being with the family...Just a simple Question what do you want todo at Christmas any ideas?

  9. mexico.. im off there this december!!

decembers ment to be the best time to go aswell :)

  10. Just before Christmas 2006 we got a flight out to Bangkok and stayed for three days at the Asia Hotel, which is a lovely place with a rooftop swimming pool, and only about £25 a night.  The sky train stops outside the hotel and you can get to a lot of places in Bangkok on the sky train.  There is absolutely masses to do, from seeing the Golden Palace and largest reclining Buddha in the world, to shopping in the huge indoor malls and picking up ridiculously cheap bargains.  Then we've got on a bus at Ekamai bus station and paid about 200 Bahts, the equivalent of just over £3, for a five hour ride in an air-conditioned bus with reclining seats, down to centre point pier near Trat.  We got on a ferry out to an island called Koh Chang, which takes about an hour, and stayed at White Sands Beach resort.  Absolutely heaven, gorgeous bungalows on a pure white sand beach for about £15 a night and lovely restaurants strung out along the beach with excellent food and at a fraction of the cost of European restaurants.  They put chairs on the beach in the evenings and light candles on your table.  They let Chinese lanterns off into the night sky on Near Years eve.  We enjoyed it so much that at Christmas 2007 we did exactly the same again!
