I want to go abroad next summer but dont know where to go. I want to go for a week, not too long a flight from uk and i am not a sun worshiper but do want dry weather as sick of rain here!! i would rather go somewhere where there are lots of places to see and things to do rather than sit on a beach every day. i love walking and wildlife and history.

Was thinking about Rome? But not sure if this is ok for a weeks holiday or just weekend.

What do you think?

  1. If you fancy Italy ,  how about Lake Garda, you can also do a trip to Venice from there. I think 7 Days in Rome might be too much

  2. You'd easily fill a week in Rome, no problem!

    But time it right, as Rome can get very hot between June and the end of August, and in August all the Italians head for the beach anyway.

    I'd also advise investing in a copy of the DK Eyewitness Guide to Rome, it's the best guidebook series on the market and well worth the money you spend on it, as it tells you everything you need to know about the place you're visiting.

  3. Rome is wonderful if you like history and culture (oh no, not another mediaeval church full of masterpieces!)  There are also some great parks around the edge of the City - but not much wildlife.  It's best to avoid July (hot and crowded) and August (so hot even the Romans leave town).

    PS Thank you Y!A for the spell checker, but in the UK and Ireland, we spell it mediaeval.

  4. Have a look at this;

    www.soul-adventure.com

    Its a fairly new project, but is designed to cater for all needs.
