I recently went to Australia with my family and we went to Sydney (of course - pretty much obligated to) and Queensland (Cairns, Brisbane....Great Barrier Reef....beaches which were AMAZINGLY beautiful (bondi, too) amusement parks etc etc etc) But we skipped Tasmania.....why don't many people go there? We loved Australia and the people there so much we've decided to go back....I've heard 'Tassie' is very green and apparently 'Salamanca Markets' is the biggest and best market in Aus? And is Hobart is as good as people say? WHAT DO YOU THINK???

  1. I've been to tasmania and we're planning to return there in a couple of years on our Honeymoon. It's beautiful and green and has some of the most amazing scenery in Australia a lot of it is protected against mining and deforestation which is a really good thing. It has some of the nicest people they are really laid back and very willing to help tourists. If you return to Australia again try to get there you won't be disappointed

  2. Tasmania is beautiful, but it's not as glitzy as Sydney and the Gold Coast, so it's often overlooked by tourists. Similarly because the weather isn't as warm as the mainland, people don't always put it on their 'to do' lists.

Nonetheless it is a great place to visit, and supposedly one of the least spoilt places (environmentally and otherwise) in Australia.

Hobart is nice, but it's really when you get out into the rest of the state that you see the beauty of it. Try Launceston and the Tamar Gorge. Go to dinner there at Stillwater restaurant. Visit a raspberry farm.

The beaches in Tassie (while not really hot like others in Australia) are very unspoilt.

I have heard that Salamanca Market is good, but I'm not sure if it's the best in Australia or not.

Tas is definately worth a visit though (and I'm a Victorian!)

  3. Im australian  my mum and dad went there as she wanted  to see were my grandpa spent some  of his childhoodd.  and see other sight etc. they bought lots of yummy chocolate back from the chocolate factory. They managed to see  most of tassie  together which is very special  because he died  not long after they came back from the second trip.If you are in into the art craft history  you should it love  and Im it will be well worth a vistAlthough I'm sure its worth for it the scenery alone and the surrounding little towns etc.

  4. Well i live in Australia,Exactly an hour away from Sydney.I have never actually been into Tasmania though. I don't really know why people don't visit Tasmania i here its one of the cheaper places to buy stuff from (well it used to be). Also most people chose to catch the ship across to Tassie becuase flying is supposed to be dearer that was the case when my Nan went there. But I'm not 100% sure.I guess you asked a really good question. Most people that come over usually go to Queensland Melbourne or New South Wales for the shopping and visit Northern Territory for Uluru (Ayers Rock),Etc etc.Not much help was i! Anyways it good you enjoyed it here in Australia

  5. WA has some amazing places, i think you should definatly look into the kimberly area and also the south west has some amazing beaches and forests eg margaret river
