Holiday in melbourne?

hey!, im from singapore and im thinking of going to melbourne for a holiday in july. just a short 5-7 day trip... im looking at more of a arts/culture/nature kind of holiday.. so can someone please help me with my itinerary??

hmm will AU$800 -1000 (not including accomodation)

be too little to have a fun trip?

  1. Good amount for a 5 -7 day holiday in Melbourne. IF you are going to do a lot of nights out tho you may want a bit more.

    If you like the nature side get on a tour or hire a car & go for a trip down the Great Ocean Road it is lovely costal area and beautiful bush with water falls & nature walks in the Parks down in the region.

    Also there is the Penguins down at Philip Island and many other nature things to do.

    also plenty of other artsy & Culture things to do.

  3. There are lots of things to do in Melbourne and some are free such as:

    Free tram around the city, jump on and off or do the full circuit for a free tour. 10am-6pm daily.

    Free shuttle bus as above 9.30-4.30pm

    Free art exhibitions in Ian Potter Museum(Australian Art) and NGV ( Interrnational Art). Some exhibitions you will have to pay.

    Book a  free guided half day walking tour around the city at the Melbourne Visaitor Centre in Federation Square. Learn about the history, architecture,arcades and lanes of Melbourne

    Visit The State Library - Art Gallery, Free exhibitions etc.

    Walk around the Botanical Gardens

    Visit the Arts Market every Sunday at Southbank

    See the Gas Flames at night on the hour outside the Crown Casino take your camera they are stunning

    Walk around the Crown casino - large complex with shops restaurants, cinema etc.Take in a film and treat yourself to Gold Class.

    For Things to see:

    Visit Healesville Sanctuary for Australian Wildlife

    Melbourne Zoo - Take the tram

    Take a trip to see the Penguins at Philip Island around 90 dollars

    Take a day tour to The Great Ocean Road - Around 95 dollars and a great day out or an extra 60 dollars if you want a helicopter ride over the twelve apostles.

    Go to Sovereign Hill at Ballarat - recreation of how Ballarat was during the Gold Rush days - Pan for gold, go down a mine, and lots more. Go by train to Ballarat  and then free shuttle bus or take a tour for around 130 dollars.

    Visit The Immigration Museum

    Visit The Aquarium

    Visit Queen Victoria Market

    Take a tour of The Royal Exhibition Building at Carlton Gardens. Need to book in Advance

    Visit The Old Melbourne Gaol

    Take the tram to St Kilda - Beach and walk along the pier.Small sunday market there

    Do a Bar tour at night

    Do a chocolate tour

    Go to Dracula's for a creepy experience

    and last of course is go shopping - Melbourne is a shopping mecca with lots of designer shops- Melbourne Central, Southern Cross Station,The GPO and Bridge Road are just a few places.

    These are just some of the things that you can do.

    Call in at the Melbourne Visitor Centre ,Federation Square when you arrive. You can get leaflets, discount vouchers, and book the trips there and dont forget to book your free guided tour.

    You will have a great time and can do plenty with your budget.
