  1. Go to the Gower in Wales! Great for kids with a play area and cafe, right next to the beach and a short drive to the nearest village. very beautiful with lots of great walks! would recommend have been 3 times now with people with kids.

  3. Isle of Wight

  4. Depends on how far you want to travel, north wales is great, good beaches and plenty of attractions.

  5. Depends what kind of thing you are after I guess.

I used to get dragged over to Devon & Cornwall & it was quite good fun.

I'm guessing that you'd be entering from somewhere north of Devon, so You'll enter via the M5-A38.  Take the road to Brixham & then head over to Dartmouth.

You go over one of two car ferries that hold about 6 cars at a time to get into Dartmouth itself.  Dartmouth is beautiful, & its quite magical for a kid to arrive somewhere like that!

I would recommend Little Cotton Caravan & Camping Site: www.littlecotton.co.uk/

Its at the top of Dartmouth & is nice & quiet yet theres a park & ride next to the campsite that takes you into Dartmouth itself every few minutes.

In Dartmouth I recommend you buy you're kids crabbers & a pack of bacon, & they'll be quiet for hours fishing crabs out of the estuary off the pontoons.

Theres a nice walk up to the castle, & you can take a boat trip  back to the town.  Other than that, you can get a "round robin" ticket which gives you a ferry across to the other side of the estuary, where you then get an old steam train to Paignton.

You then get a bus to Totnes, where you then catch a boat back to Dartmouth through probably the prettiest river in England.

Other than that theres a little theme park nearby, & you could also jump in the car & go over to the Eden Project in St Austell (about 2 hours drive).

There are lots to keep you & you're little ones occupied for a week or so.

I would recommend that you get down for the regatta (http://www.dartmouthregatta.co.uk/).  Theres lots happening such as the Red Arrows, other air displays, boat racing, lots of competitions for the kids to enter like crabbing competitions & chalk drawing competitions on the pavement.

Theres usually one or two big navy ships in port too, which you can go & have a look around.

The fireworks displays then are incredible too.

If that hasn't given you enough ideas about Dartmouth, send me a message & I'll suggest some other things as I've got 100s.

Heres a few pictures of Dartmouth so you can see how gorgeous it is:

    Hope this helps!

  6. Years ago, when our kids were about the ages yours are now, we were (like everyone else) on our way to Newquay, Cornwall, but we took a wrong turning somehow, and ended up in a tiny village called Polruan,(in Cornwall) We came to a tiny campsite, thinking it was the one we had booked into weeks before. It was gorgeous, with the most amazing views over the Fowey estuary, and surrounding countyside, with a small kiddies park (which the kids thought was gorgeous) and just a small shop.We were weary from the long journey, and decided to stop at this gorgeous little village for something to eat, before making our way down to Newquay. We eventually arrived at the huge campsite in Perranporth, and were all SO disappointed to be "plonked" on this huge rather ugly site, and wished we had booked into the gorgeous little site we had visited earlier on that day, and although we were hankering after that gorgeous little village, we made the most of our holiday, and spent the next 2 weeks cramped on crowded beaches with "the rest of the world" (or so it seemed)

The next year, we booked into that tiny little campsite in Polruan, that we had "stumbled upon" the year before, and had the BEST holiday we had ever had in our lives, and it cost us virtually half the amount we had paid for the horrible site in Newquay. We visited "Lerryn Creek" where the kids just "messed around" on the river with a fishing net for hours, whilst we enjoyed peace and tranquility, whilst the kids entertained themselves, we visited a gorgeous little secluded beach called Lansallos, which was virtually empty, apart from a few local people, and we visited Looe, and Polperro, which, although a bit more comercialised, were far more beautiful than the place we visited the year before. Polruan has 2 small beaches, with rock pools, and "nooks and crannies" ideal for liitle 'uns to investigate, and the ferry ride over to the small town of Fowey, for more restaurants, gift shops and beaches, and to watch the R.N.L.I. helicopters practiceing their life saving skills was magical to them, and us.We were SO besotted by that holiday that we ended up moving here permanently, and now live in Lerryn, the same village that inspired Kenneth Moore to write "Wind in the willows," and "tales of the riverbank" It is TRULY magical territory, and a must for an outstandingly peaceful holiday.

The Eden project is just 5 miles away, and on wet nasty days, there is "Ben's playworld"(a place adults hate, but kid's just love) Looe is also just 5 miles away for boat rides, and "crabbing" off the harbour wall, and traditional ice cream, and cream tea's on a sunny afternoon.

I would highly reccomend S.E. Cornwall (and especially Polruan campsite) My kid's are all grown up now, but their best memories were of that one particular holiday, one they will NEVER forget, despite the fact we had been coming to Cornwall for years, but to the rather ugly comercialised "Blackpooly" Newquay, with it's crowded beaches, and enormous expensive campsites. DON'T DO IT!!! there are some really lovely memories for your kid's to make, if you know where to make them, and I would highly reccommend Polruan, Fowey, Lerryn Lansallos, and surrounding area's to make those lovely memories.

All these lovely resorts are around 5 miles from the Eden project, which is also worth a visit, as well as "The lost garden's of Heligan"

Visit the Fowey area in August for the regatta, a whole week of non stop entertainment including the "red arrows", 2 massive firework displays, and plenty of quayside entertainment for both you, and the kids, and all free!!!

  7. The Isle of Wight. There is plenty to do for children. Some beautiful beaches and scenery. It's a fab place for a holiday. I went as child now I take my son.

  8. new forest

  9. The UK is England, Scotland, Wales & Northern Ireland altogether,

    What part of the UK?

    I only know England,

    Lake District,

    Peak District,

    North Yorkshire Moors,

    Northumberland,

    New Forest,

    Yorkshire Dales,

    Pennines,

    Ribble Valley,

  10. Camp sites are great for camping.

  11. Cornwall, Dartmoor or the Scottish Highlands

  12. Lake District is great for camping.

  13. For kids i would reccomend either, Quay West, NewQuay W.Wales or the park in Tenby or the one in Porthcawl. (Trecco Bay) That is my favourite. Brilliant park with a whole street down the middle with an entertainment complex, bars, pool, shops, jungle jims etc. even it's own curry house! A beach very close by and a big fair up the road with a great promanade.

Ditto what Empress said too - I live by Gower and it is lovely with LOADS of beaches.

  14. Try Cornwall. I love Cornwall, my best childhood memories are there! Here are some things i love to do while i'm there:

The Lost Gardens of Heligan (huge gardens restored to former glory, will take a whole day & tire out the kids)

Lands End is a must (although you have to pay, there is plenty for you & the kids)

Watergate Bay (just outside of Newquay a 3 mile long beautiful golden beach it doesnt cost anything)

Newquay Zoo (another great one for the kids)

Boscastle (village of the awful floods a couple of years ago but still a beautiful & livley, also has a witchcraft museum)

Tintagle (another one to tire the kids out and fill them full of magical history about King Arthur & Merlin)

Marazion - St Michales Mount (fab day out for you and the kids, if the tide is high you can get a boat to the mount, at low tide you can walk across the causeway)

Padstow (the home of Rick Stein & his resturants, a beautiful little harbour village that is always busy)

Truro (Cornwall's cathedral city, beautiful to walk around and the cathedral has a great cafe at the back run by the church)

Pendennis Castle (built by Henry 8th with superb views & some times activity days where they shoot the cannons & dress up)

Cornish Cider Farm (see the day to day activities of making cider, there is a farm for the kids & cider tasting for the adults YUM)

Strawberry picking (take your kids pick loads of strawberries and eat them with clotted cream. mind you your kids will prob end up eating more than putting them in the baskets)

Also get to the beaches, they are amongst some of the most beautiful in the UK and they cost you nothing for the whole day (ok maybe parking).

Above all have fun, make some great memories and enjoy Cornwall! Get in touch if you want anymore info!

  15. Would you consider travelling to Northern Ireland? You can take the ferry across with your car.

I would reccomend anywhere in County Antrim, Portrush is a lovely seaside resort with many camping Sites. It has a fabulous beach and a theme park. I think your children would love it!

Is near to The famous Giants Causeway, Carrick A Rede Rope Bridge, and about an hours Drive to the gorgeous city that is Belfast. You could drive up and take a B and B for the night for about £50.

    Is something different!

    Hope I helped.

  16. Lowestoft or Great Yarmouth!
