Looking into going to holiday to India in August? Is it a good time to go?

Also, I wanted to go on the golden triangle journey, does anyone know any good deals for this or any good websites/companies.

Any other advice is welcome.

Thanks in advance =)

  1. OH that should be GREAT fun, i did it last summer- and i went from may through july and those are the hottest months of the year, to tell the truth it is going to be difficult to find cheap tickets because i have been looking and i can't find anything but i guess it depends where you are coming form, good luck if you go and also can you email me at aajanachle1031@yahoo.com if you find a good deal, thanks alot

  2. well i would suggest u go in for Himachal pradesh , i know a good travel agent for your travel , goto Jeet Travel's website , http://www.hotelsindharamsala.com , they have great hotels & packages listed. Enjoy ur trip !!

    Cheers !!

  3. Hello,

August will be the Monsoon season so you will have to be preapred for Rain.  The rain normally breaks the soaring heat around mid July and last til September.

The best way to do the Delhi, Jaipur and Agra (Taj Mahal) is by booking a flight out to India then either taking the train between places or booking a Car and Driver.  I have done both options and I feel that it is a good experience to do the trains in India so think about it.  Look at http://www.indianrail.gov.in/ for details of train times etc.  It is much cheaper to book each element of your trip independently than to book a tour operator package.

I would spend a few days in Delhi as there is a lot to see there and great shopping too.  Agra is not worth spending too much time in, maybe 1 night at most.  Jaipur is nice and we loved the Samode Haveli hotel.

India is really a very easy place to travel around and you will have a great time.

  4. August is frankly no time for holidaying in india. Most of the country will be in rain. if u r a rain lover, then goa could be ok.if u r having an inclination for trekking, valley of flowers in himalayas is excellent in this time.

Regarding golden triangle, it is easy to manage. I don't know where r u from but english is ok. the route is..

    delhi-jaipur-jodhpu-jaisaelmer-agra-de...

it is a tour of rajputana architecture at jodhpur, jaipur; mughal architecture at delhi & agra. camel safari at jaiselmer is a life time experience.

indian railways run palace on wheel on this route , check for departure that suits u.

incredible india and many other tour operators arrange this tour. I would recomend samsentravels, neeta travels of bombay as they r excellent tour operators. on-line booking is also possible. u may try in june to confirm as currently, summer vacation tourism is in full swing.

should u need specific details, e mail me at jjshroff@gmail.com

  5. Perfect Travels do tours where you are given a private tour guide and a driver to take you to the major attractions, they also organise pick ups and drop offs at the train station/airport etc. Its very good!

  6. August will be fine. Golden triangle tour includes a tour to Delhi, Jaipur, Agra. But now you can visit other places also in this very famous & special our itinerary. Check out here, you can find a wide range of Golden triangle tour packages:

  7. we go to Goa every year with friends...& our friends just did the golden triangle...the Taj Mahal etc...they loved it so much!

we use S.D. Enterprises in Wembley to book our holidays & they book for us through Travel Pack...it seems to be cheaper doing it this way.

If you are going to Goa...please email me & i will tell you about a new 'scam' happening to male tourists there...it left my husband with a bruised & bloodied ear drum!!  if you are going with a male companion...he will need to be aware of this so that he is not targeted!!

anyway - apart from that...India is fabulous & very cheap...you'll love it!!  (August is monsoon time..very wet & extremely hot!)

  8. isnt it really hot there at that time of year. tickets might be expensive because its in the holidays too. well i guess it depends where youre going

  9. Frankly August is not a good time to visit India because it is rainy season in all over India and you can't visit all the places.so it's better to come in winter or last months of summer(before may or after October)

  10. august is a great time for going up to the himalayas. it is the only time of year the passes are open on the high roads to ladakh/kashmir. yes it is monsoon but it doesn't rain all day, just short heavy bursts. rajahstan will be very hot. i'm sure the camel fair is in november. flights will be more at this time of year but places like goa  will be half normal price for accommodation (off-peak for them). i think you are better off waiting till you get there to arrange any tours. you can talk to other travellers, wheras how do you know any recommendations on here are genuine and not just self advertising tour companies?
