Question:

Holiday to turkey in October - help!?

I'm going to the bodrum region in Turkey in October with my friend and her parents and we're getting a self-catering villa, so I don't need to worry about accomodation costs. Also, her parents should be paying for meals etc. I'm just wondering how much money I should take out, it'll basically be just for paying for clothes&gifts and drink. I put 450 punds in to the currency converter, and it came out at just over 1000 lira. Would that be enough or will I need more?

  1. Well it depends on how much you buy and Bodrum is really expensive compared other parts of Turkey costing around twice as much or way more. Also since you're going in October it wouldn't be as expensive since most of tourists come around the summer time. But it should be enough if you're not planning on buying too much and it depends on how long you are staying for.

--It's more than enough for two weeks, don't worry....

  2. 1 week, 2 weeks or more?

For souvenirs etc it will be plenty as long as you don't go mad!

Don't change your money in UK, the exchange rate is better here. You can change it gradually when you see how much you are spending. If you have any left over you can then take it home with you in sterling rather than paying to change it back from lira.

  4. it would probably be enough as turkey is much cheaper and you wont have to pay for acomadation and youll be buying stuff likie turkish delight right? which is really cheap in turkey but be carefull with very touristy places beacause they will try and scam you for more money than something is really worth

    :)

    hope this helps

  5. You don't say if your going for 1 or 2 weeks, Turkey is a lot dearer this year and the lira is on a par with the euro now, there's very little difference. However in Bodrum you can find some really cheap places for drinks and things, there's also a market, don't forget to haggle for any clothes you buy. Take as much as you can afford, if there's any money left over, change it back when you come home. Have a great hol

  6. as a half irish half turkish dude i will explane

turkey is very cheap (and while its cheap its not china cheap) collens colozion marks and spencers(clots one) ever thing turkish delagecys are extreamly cheap because onlike some countrys the normal eople eat them alot as well there not teuristic there part of eating die so they are made alot so they go for cheap for 20 pounds you can probably have a 3 corst meal (maybe not the most fancy meal but a good traditional meal) (Lam chpos salade drinks etc stuff likwe kebab döner (traditional turkish food will cost you no more than 4 pounds even in rip off places

anyway when it comes to suveniers there are tourist markets (bazzar) like lets say X=20 pounds which might rip you of and then theres normal bazzars X=5 pounds where alot of the sales people will all probably speak english german russian etc. and if they dont they ask a friend to do it for them so thats all good and then there will be turkish pazars there most commen %90 they will b food etc. so you dont wana go there (unless you wanna make foodXD) and whe it comes to turkish drinks and meals outside (my dad owns a restuarant)the main turkish bear (EFES) will cost you 2.50 pounds (i mean does big pints) and efes is world knowen for its taste (ten again ever one has different taste so theres miller troy etc.(but you may not find it every where every thing like cola orange juice etc. will cost you betwean 1-2 pounds

if you come to antalya (center of the probvince where bodrum is) feel free to come to Mc yoruk's antalya yenikapı (YEY free advertising XD)

    Enjoy your stay

  7. As turkey is very cheap i think maybe 1500 lira would be ok .Since you are going to a tourist region the prices would be a little bit higher than lets say in Sivas. If you just haggle you will have plenty of money.Just watch your money becasue in these tourist areas many people get ripped off. Be carefull. Enjoy your holiday :)
