Has anyone been to Tuy Hoa City in Vietnam? If so, are there any personal risks which I should take into consideration. I plan on travelling to Vietnam and staying there mid next year for a holiday. Many thanks

  1. I was there in 2006 and the city was quite good, peaceful. It's  610km from Ho Chi Minh city. You can reach there by bus, train, or flight. And it's also just 160km from Nha Trang. So you can go to there after enjoying days in Nhatrang, the best beach town in Vietnam.

Seafood in Tuy Hoa and nearby beach is cheap. Enjoy it! There are some nice sites in Tuy Hoa:  the beach, Nhạn tower (The Champa tower ) which located on a hill in the southern part of the city.

And the most interesting site in Tuy Hoa is Ghềnh Đá DÄ©a ( means the dish shaped rocks ). It's like a small Giant's Causeway in Ireland,  just 30 km north from the city. To reach there, get on the National highway 1, head to North, after 30km, turn right with a board that shows the site  and take another 5km on the dirt road. There's also a very nice beach nearby with no tourist. On the way to this site, on the National highway 1, you will see " Đầm Môn ", a very scenic lake with beautiful view from above.

Just when you turn right to the dirt road some hundred meters, you will find an old church, named Bằng Lăng. Check it out. I missed checking it last time.

I came to Tuy Hoa last time just because of the " Dish shaped rocks ". Hide a motorbike for 4USD/day or if you're afraid of getting lost, hide the driver.

Check out my pics for " Dish shaped rocks" here:

So hope you would have great days in Vietnam, especially Tuy Hoa, where you want to come to.

  2. I was there in 2005 and like the city very much.  The people are warm and friendly.  The city is quite safe and has very little traffic.  I bet the city has changed a lot since there were lots of developments under construction when I was there.  Most of the restaurants are elegant and the foods are very good and less expensive than Ho Chi Minh City.  Have a great trip to VN.
