  1. Hi Froogies,

This is the good way of thinking! My suggestion would be:

Puerto Plata (north coast) Dominican Republic. Why?

    - A lot of night life ( disco's - cafe - bars - restaurants)

    - Town at 15 min by public bus

    - A resorts/hotels near the beach

    - Ocean World ( swim with dolphins + many more)

    - Mountains, villages to visit and discover

    - Paradise Island ( Punta Rucia)

    - Isabella Historica ( first settlement of the new world)

    - Shopping in Santiago

    - Isabella de Torre (cable car)

and about 15 more excursions to do + boat trips !

What do you want more? If more info needed just contact me.

    Enjoy it !

    Happy Feet

  2. barbados - good all round place and friendly people.

st vincent and the grenadines - boring !

dominican republic - wonderful place outside of the tourist areas

when i visited i didn't go to any tourist resorts. those places are awful might as well not go.  better to get a flight and organise your accomodation separately.  in barbados they speak english so lots easier !

i did lots of diving in all 3 places.  umm, apart from that museums, getting mugged (dominican republic), long bus journeys to the strangest remote places (dominican republic), renting a car and going round the rest of the island (barbados), jolly rodger (barbados), submarine thingy (barbados)

id advise barbados if it's your first time there ...

  3. Most of the Resorts in the Caribbean are beach destinations, therefore the activities will be geared towards water sports (snorkeling, diving, kayaking, sailboats etc)

If this isn't your thing, choose an area/island where you will be on the beach but there are cultural things to do. For example in Tulum Mexico you have Mayan Ruins (Chichen Itza) and the ecological theme parks (Xcaret or Xel-Ha)

In Belize you have the zip-line canopy excursion through the rain forest or cave swimming.

You will need to do some research so you are not just laying on the beach. Most resorts have a tour desk to guide you to some of their island wonders.

    Good luck and enjoy)

  4. I can't sit here and tell you everything there is to do in every island but when you decide on one it will be very easy to find out what n where to go.  Well in a nut shell.  Every island has land marks of the past Spaniards, Dutch, etc.  You will be surprised how such small island are so rich in culture and tradition. They all left buildings, ruins, windmills and a very rich trail of history.  You will find forts, churches and all sorts of buildings to visit in every island.  They also have in common open  markets where locals sell their crops and artisans display their art for sale.  Trust me I was born lived and traveled the islands and if you just lay on the beach is because you choose to.

  5. Well a great place will be Trinidad and Tobago.

First you go to Trinidad for 4 days of hard core partying. Then off to Tobago for 3 days of relaxation in the sun.

So here is your planned vacation via a Trini:

Get into Trinidad on a Thursday afternoon. I don't know where you're coming from but if it's the USA then try to be on the AA flight that gets in at 2:30 pm from Miami or for the latest the Continental from Houston that get's in around 8:00 pm. No later flight, 'cause you have to enjoy Thursday night.

So make sure you stay at the Hilton Hotel in Port-of-Spain, the only upside down hotel in the world, but don't spend money eating there.

Now for dinner on Thursday night you would want to go to Jenny's. There you will get a nice selection of local food and drinks, as well as american dishes. Try to eat around the bar area for atmosphere. After dinner head to club 51 which is right up the block from Jenny's. Thursday night is Kareokee night until 12:00 am. After that is strict jaming to Soca/Reggea/dance hall/ and pop music. Dress nice. Go back to the hotel and relax till 11:00 am.

    Friday:

Get up and have a light breakfast. Catch a cab from the hotel and tell them you want to go to Maracus beach. Now go and enjoy some sun and beach. Also, get a bake and shark with a cold, cold Carib Beer. HMMMMM!!!

Head back to the hotel and get at least 3 hours sleep.

People is Friday night. Catch a cab to CROBAR on the Ave. Have some drinks under the Caribbean star lite sky and take ah dance or two. At 11:30 pm head to ZEN night club and dance the night away. Yuh, might see Akon, heehee..

    Saturday

Enjoy some shopping in Port-of-Spain and make sure to catch ah doubles-man for a tasty local breaded dish. Please, Please don't have him put pepper in it or else is straight to the hospital.

Saturday night head to St. James and enjoy ah good lime (hang out) at Smokies and Bunties. Eat ah roti, corn soup, and find ah party some way.

    Sunday

Head to the airport and off to Tobago for 3 plus days of sun and relaxation.

    ENJOY!!!
