Question:

Holidays to Calabria Italy -Sila Mountain area?

Hi, I am looking for apartments to rent in the Lake Arvo/Sila area of Calabria in Italy. It sounds lovely, but there seems to be a lack of accommodation. I dont want a hotel, I want a small apartment, preferably near things, not too much off the beaten track. Have been looking online but cant seem to find much. There are some properties in Calabria but they seem to be coastal and I wonder whether the coastal areas might be a bit overdeveloped?

Thanks

  1. Lake Arvo and Sila are lovely, beautiful landascape but not for turist; there aren't restaurant and neither hotels.

    I suggest also Cape Vatican

but if you can don't come in August!

All Italian people go to holiday in that mounth and beach is not really quiet.... place become hedged in ...

If you want you can also visit beautiful isles of Vulcano and Lipari: nature and very good food to taste!!! In Cape Vatican there are tourism's office that organize tour with traditionally boat.

I say you also a secret: my husband is from Calabria, we stay on Monte Poro.

If you can came to Monte Poro  there's a little famous church of Carmelo's Madonna sanctuary and a very good restaurant where you can eat REALLY TIPICAL FOOD of calabria ( Ducale Restaurant)

  2. you can find many accomodations in Camigliatello  silano however this  time of the year  it is very cold and lots of snow    camigilatello ihad one of the best skiing  in calabria     i live short   distance from here

  3. HI we had a fab holiday in Calabria last year.   Stayed in Cape Vaticano Hotel Sciaron.   Absolutely fab views so quiet.  Basic hotel rooms food fab.   Its no over developed or commercialised.   Nice beach within walking distance.  Hotel runs a frequent mini bus to a lovely beach and to Tropea, which is the nearest Town.  Its lovely.   Visit Sila.  Walk to the Lighthouse sit on the veranda of the Pizzeria and watch the magnificent sunset.   We would definately go back.  We have been all ove Italy but this is the best spot.  You can even take the ferry over to Sicily.

  4. try this site... agriturismo is like a b&b but with the added advantage of having a restaurant which sell cheap traditional food.... hope this helps..

i live in campania and adore southern italy.. have fun
