Holland America Age Requirements?

Anybody,

I don't know if you can answer or can help in anyway, but I'm desperate.

I booked a 20 day Mediterranean Cruise with Holland America back in February for my Honeymoon. My wedding is May 22 and the ship leaves May 29. I am 23 and my new bride to be is 20. I have paid for everything already, the airlines, hotel in Rome, and cruise.

However, they have just informed me that they are not going to let us sale because Kelly, my wife, is too young. We are 2 weeks away from our wedding!!! They didn't inform me of this before, nor do they say anything on their website. On other websites, age requirements are waived for married couples if they are both over 18 and can show proof of marriage.

What should I do???

Can you please advise or help???

  1. Well I think that you should point out that youre gonna to be married at the time off sailing and that you (if you can) will provide a marrige document at the time of departure. If youre cruise lines have the rules of being 18 it should do. Also check your cls rule out (it can be found at the web page).

Its always youre responsibity to check out what rules that will apply. The cls contract let them deny any persons that dont pass age requirements and simular boarding without any sort off refound. Its crude but its a fact. Johan.

  2. I would call and talk to the cruise line. It really sounds dumb that you wouldn't be able to go?!? On most cruise lines you have to be 21 to travel alone but she is going to be a married woman and with you whose over 21. It sounds really weird because parents bring kids who are under 21 on ships so...yeah. I would find a phone number and work it out there. Maybe call a travel agent or something. I'm sure they can work it all out for you and that the age requirment can be waverd but really it is no different then a parent whose over 21 bringing a child aboard whose under 21. Well I am sorry if that didn't help at all. But Congratulations on your wedding!! I hope everything goes well and you have a very happy life together! May God bless your marriage!

  3. Call Jim Picicci at 1-800-355-3017 ext. 3873 at Holland America and explain the problem and see what he can do for you.

    Good Luck

  4. Holland America states in their small print that anyone under 21 must be accompanied by a parent, guardian, or chaperone who is at least 25 years old. So you, as her husband are not old enough to be her chaperone. Doesn't sound fair to me, a great-grandmother, who married at 19 to my husband who was 21, but we only had enough money to go on a car trip.
