Holland and Mini Lop Question (Please Answer!)

Question

How much is a Holland Lop and a Mini Lop Rabbit? At first, I wanted to get a ferret, but I don't know. Also, which is better, a Holland Lop or Mini Lop. I am going to the Petland or Petco, and I am going to get a pet. Has anyone had a Holland or Mini Lop?

First I want to say THANK YOU, for not confusing the holland and the mini!

I would say around 20.00? I would go to a breeder not a pet shop, at pet shops they may not be pure breed, unless you dont want pure breed than thats fine!

I have a LOT of holland lops and i say that they are awesome, and personally they are way more cute than minis.

and yes, you can bathe them, you kind of have to if you want to show them in 4-H, witch is very fun!!

edit: they do clean themselves, but bathing them once a year will make sure they dont have fleas, mites, ect.

I have a Holland Lop named Pupsik. I've never had a Mini-Lop, though, but I've read about most rabbit breeds. Holland Lops are usually smaller than Mini-Lops, (how ironic) as Holland Lops usually weigh 4 pounds maximum as Mini-Lops usually weigh 6.5 pounds maximum. Holland Lops tend to be calmer and more shy than Mini-Lops, while Mini-Lops usually love attention. It's not true for every Holland or Mini-Lop, though. Our Pupsik isn't shy at all and got used to us pretty quickly. She loves it when you offer her some treats and rub her forehead. Sometimes she even follows me around the room, And a lot of the time, she runs around the room doing binkies. It is also possible for there to be a shy Mini-Lop. Each individual rabbit has its own individual personality as do humans, so you shouldn't listen to what everyone else says about a certain breed to decide which one to get, but you should see a few Lops and decide whether you would like a Holland Lop or a Mini-Lop.

And yes, you can bathe a Holland or Mini-Lop, as you could with any other rabbit, but it's not advised. Rabbits should be bathed annually, since they can clean themselves as do cats. But when the time of year arrives, here's how I suggest bathing should be done:

Wet a towel and place it in the bathtub

Place the rabbit on the towel

Wet the rabbit GENTLY and ONLY on its body. Never wet its head or face

Rub RABBIT shampoo GENTLY onto the rabbit's body. NEVER use human shampoo

Rinse off ALL of the shampoo using a GENTLE stream of water

GENTLY dry with a towel. Do NOT rub. Rabbits are very fragile and rubbing a towel on the poor thing can leave marks

i only have had danish dwarf rabbits they are sold to me for 45.00 i have babies now i havent bathed mine as they thoughly clean themselves giving them a bath wil just get them cold i would go for a mini lop probably get 1 for 40-50 pound

Hi, it all depends on where you go(for price). I have never had a ferret before so I dont know what to tell you about them,however, I have a Mini Lop and she is sweet. I cant tell you what is better because both breeds are sweet, calm, and have a great temperment. It turns out that the Mini lop is bigger than the Holland Lop. And I sometimes it depends on the size. I strongly suggest that you cal Farmers Feed or Tractors Supply Co.,or any store that sells rabbit equipmento get the info that you need so you now when their new shipment is coming in.

You can bathe rabbits,but DO NOT use human shampoo because it is bad for them.  There is a special shampoo for rabbits and you can find it in the stores named above.All you need is a damp washcloth to wipe off the shampoowhen you are done.

Mini lops are sold at my pet store for 45 bucks (CDN).

Breeders in my area charge from 10-30 bucks (CDN)

It's dangerous to bath any rabbit.

(instead of a pet store  i recommend finding one on kijiji.com)
