Question:

Holley overflow?

I have a new rebuild Holley marine 4160 600 cfm carb that is adjusted and idles perfect until gasoline starts flowing (streaming) over the butterflies of the primary.

This is not always and sometimes it starts after 30 sec or 1-5 minutes, I shut down the engine, start up and it has disapered untill....

I have shecked the level and seems ok, no fuel comes out the vent/overflow J-pipe nor out the ventury pipes, just a stream over the throttleplates only at idle that couses the engine to die.

Anny sugestions are welcome.

Thanks,

Frank

  1. Definitely a Stick Float.  Generally this is caused by an indent or rough spot where the needle engages the float arm.  It's easy to see or feel when you've disassembled it.  Just sand off the rough spot and you should be OK but also check the needle tip to ensure it will slide and not gouge.

If you bought it rebuilt, take it back.

    Good Luck!!

  2. float is sticking or float is not adjusted right or float needle seat is damaged or there is a piece of debris in the bowl.

in any case it's a float problem
