Hollie Muse leads English U13 Girls Championship
After the second round of the U13 Girls Championship, Hollie Muse is leading the tournament.
The 12-year-old player is leading the leaderboard with a total of 156 points. At the end of the second round, she had a lead of three strokes. This marginal lead is not enough to ensure final first place for Muse.
She started off the tournament on a rather bad note. She ended the first round with a score of 85. Given her age and experience, this was what many observers were expecting from Muse. She was placed in the sixth position.
It appeared that this is where she will finish the tournament. Trying to explain this performance, Muse said that her bad form was due to the weather.
She stated, “Yesterday I was worrying about the wind and the rain was putting me off.” This appears to be true as the second round proved that Muse is a very talented young golfer.
The second round was where Muse really shined through. She vastly improved her score and posted a score of 71 points. She played an amazing game and birdied her way through the round.
It was very clear from the very first hole that Muse means business in this round. She scored a birdie on this hole and started off a great game that ended with a birdie on the 18th hole.
This performance stunned everyone and many observers hastily revised their predictions. Muse was very confident of her performance and thought that she will capture one of the top slots in the tournament.
Talking about the second round and her game, she said, “Today I went for everything, I was going for birdies all the time. I wanted to prove to myself that I could shoot under par and be competitive – and hopefully I’ll do it again tomorrow”.
However, Muse will face tough competition from fellow players. The second place Samantha Fuller is also moving up. She also played a great game and improved her first round score.
She scored 83 and 76 points in the first and second rounds, respectively. She will be the greatest threat for Muse in the final round.
