Holloway Road to lead at Monmore – Puppy Derby (Heat 5) Preview
J Mullins’ black dog, Holloway Road, stands as the hot favourite runner for the Heat 5 race of Ladbrokes Puppy Derby which is scheduled to be held at Monmore racecourse on Thursday night, March 1.
The Open Race of 480m Flat distance will start at 20:24 (GMT). The total prize money for the contest is £175.
Holloway Road will compete against Pinewood Express, Rockburst Pearl, Castlebride Dan, Centurion Dolly and Dacent Joker.
The reason for Holloway Road’s being at the top of the market is a couple of magnificent performances which the black dog delivered during the last month.
Since making his debut in January 2012, the two-year-old runner has finished second each in two races along with winning two.
Thus, the son of Premier Fantasy out of Swift Rush has exposed his inherent skills to a great extent. He has established himself as a blue-eyed runner of the bookmakers.
It is hoped that the dashing dog will be able to capitalise well on his fresh form and unleash a decent run tonight at Monmore.
All eyes are hinged on him. Let us see how he manages to come up to the high hopes of his supporters and the bettors who are going to invest on him.
Among other five hounds, Rockburst Pearl and Dacent Joker are expected to deliver well tonight. Both these runners possess enough talent and fighting spirit which they have even demonstrated in their previous outings.
Rockburst Pearl started her career in October 2011. M Dartnall’s black b***h bagged two consecutive wins during January 2012. Currently, she is afloat with form and expected to finish at least second in tonight’s competition.
On the other hand, Dacent Joker made his debut December 2011. J Davy’s black dog also bagged a couple of consecutive triumphs during January 2012. He is also likely to pose severe challenge to Holloway Road and Rockburst Pearl.
By and large, there will be a tough tug of war among Dacent Joker, Holloway Road and Rockburst Pearl at Monmore. Holloway Road will have to apply his utmost power to seal the success.
