You are still thinking of Tower of Terror, just at a different park.

The ride at DisneySea in Tokyo is called Hotel Hightower but is the same ride inside.  The story is that eccentric billionaire Harrison Hightower III built the hotel and kept a collection of artificats from around the world there.  He mysteriously disappeared taking an elevator up to his private suite shortly after taking a mysterious idol of a trickster spirit called Shiriki Utundu from Africa.  The ride is themed to the spirit taking over the elevator.

As for the Hollywood Tower Hotel, that is another version of the ride completely based off the Twilight Zone.  It is not a real hotel and the only rooms inside the actual building are for the cast members and training.
