The former AZ Alkmaar attacker has admitted that his side can take confidence from their good showings against Manchester United and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 ahead of Tuesday’s clash against Brian McDermott’s men.
Aston Villa forward, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Brett-Holman-c8047, has expressed optimism ahead of his side’s upcoming English Premier League tie against Reading at Villa Park on Tuesday, November 27.
The Villans have thus far failed to impress with their showings in the English top flight. Occupying the 18th spot on the league table, they have an abysmal record both at home and on the road.
And the 28-year-old midfielder-c*m-winger has urged his teammates to put behind their poor showings, and start looking to secure good results.
“It's still early doors. Obviously, everyone knows what situation we are in. We just now need to grit out teeth, get stuck in and do things correctly”, Holman was quoted as saying to the media.
The Villa are heading into the game on the back of a hard fought goalless draw against Arsenal at Villa Park on November 24, and the Australian ace has admitted that his side’s morale has been boosted following the draw after suffering back-to-back defeats
against Manchester United and Manchester City.
“Considering the previous two matches were lost, the point against Arsenal has given us a good boost ahead of Tuesday”, Holman added.
The versatile midfielder, who arrived at Villa Park in the summer of 2012 after making close to 100 league appearances for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/AZ-c38571 Alkmaar, went on to insist that his side’s showings against Manchester United and Arsenal were impressive, though, they only managed
to secure a lone point from a possible six.
“I think we can look back at the games against United and Arsenal and say we are doing well. We need to sort our away form out, but it's looking better”, Holman concluded.
Aston Villa threw away their two goals lead against United, as they went on to suffer a 2-3 defeat at Villa Park on November 10. However, they staged a better show against the Gunners on November 24 to bag a point at the end of 90 minutes.
