Holocaust painting help!?!?

i had to read the book "night" for summer reading..it is about the holocaust. now i have to do a creative project and i am doing a painting..i am fairly good at art but i need some suggestions or inspiration. if you have any ideas of what i should paint or pictures of holocaust paintings.. please help!

  1. I am have just looked up the content of the book, and I think that you should go for a more subtle type of painting, avoiding specific objects representing the suffering in the camp.

    I think that a night scene in soft greys/some black would be  very effective. Showing the outline of the huts and the camp very faintly - maybe also an empty railway track leading into it. One point in the picture lit up. It could be the gate of the camp with the ironic slogan  "Arbeit macht frei" (Work brings freedom) or else, everything in semi-darkness and only gleaming white stars in a dark sky.  I would go for the last idea, and keep the painting simple.  


  2. paint a shoe, simply an old worn early forties german style shoe. it would speak volumes
