Holywell is looking to finish strong in the Call Star Sports On 08000 521321 “National Hunt” Novices’ Hurdle, which is scheduled to take place at Plumpton on 12th
March, 2012.
The five-year-old gelding will be competing against Baileys Concerto, Balbriggan, Baldadash, Ballylifen, Canazta, Chinngis Khan, Diamond Sweeper, Featherintheattic, Hightown, Hindon Road, Lostayer, Made In Italy, Majorica King, Orsm, Pirans Car, Smart
Exit, Spanish Optimist, Top Dancer, Trozulon, Twin Barrels, Willy Be Lucky, Zigzaga, Luna Lightning, Madam Noso, Rydalis and Yacht London Lady in this race over a distance of 2 miles and 5 furlongs.
Trained by Jonjo O’Neill, Holywell has been going through strenuous workouts in order to prepare for this race. The son of Gold Well, out of mare Hillcrest, bagged a major victory in his previous race.
He was of significant interest to the punters and bookmakers, as he raced as a favourite. He succeeded over, Pyleigh Lass, by 2 ¾ lengths in Hire One Maiden Hurdle at Chepstow on 25th February, 2012.
A.P McCoy guided Holywell through the track, with a steady pace which resulted in victory.
Holywell will also be a subject of interest to the punters, as he raced his seasonal debut on this track. He finished in third place at Plumpton in the EBF At The Races New Predictor “National Hunt” Novices’ Hurdle on 2nd January,
2012.
He was beaten in third by an immense margin of 21 lengths by the race favourite and second place finisher, Kings Lodge. He lost pace but still managed a placed finish.
The Henrietta Knight trained gelding, Ballylifen, will be difficult to beat in this race. He has been consistently finishing as a runner-up in his last three races. Knight is hoping that the son of Brian Boru, out of mare Line Jade, will not be second
best at fourth asking.
Owned by Toby Cole, the five-year-old gelding secured a placed finish in the closing race of, 2011.
He was defeated by a neck’s margin by, Mister Newby, in the L & T Building Services Intermediate Open National Hunt Flat Race at Plumpton on 5th December, 2011.
He will gain bets in this race based on the fact that he has raced at this track before.
Coupled with jockey, Dominic Elsworth, the gelding finished second in his most recent race. This time he was beaten by Brough Academy, who was the race favourite in the Chancelloroftheformchecker.co.uk “National Hunt” Novices’ Hurdle at Fontwell on
27th January, 2012.
He is being watched closely by his connections to see how he will do in this race.
Another runner who will give the leaders a run for their money is Diamond Sweeper. The six-year-old gelding will have the bettors’ attention based on his recent third place finish at Plumpton.
The son of Witness Box, out of Vinecroft, finished after race favourite, Aikideau and Ruling Party in Attheraces.com Novices’ Hurdle on 30th January, 2012.
Based on their past performances on this track, it looks like Holywell will gain the lead in this race. The second place is likely to be acquired by Ballylifen, while the runner looking to finish third is Diamond Sweeper.
