Home Air Conditioning?

I'm looking to install a few window air conditioners in my home. I'm wondering what I should be looking for when I go out shopping for one. Also, where would be the best place to get one? What brands are good? Do I need an extended warranty? My windows in my home crank/ swing open. How do I install a window unit with this style of window? Should I just get a portable a/c unit? Can I easily remove the window unit if I move?

It partially depends on the size of the room you are cooling, but some of the highest rated brands are from GE, Kenmore, and Frigidaire. (Sears carries at least a couple of these brands). I would recommend talking to someone in the store about your particular type of windows. It may just depend on how far open the window swings, and the size of the a/c units available. Good luck!
