  1. 100% leave it on! it is hard on the caps, off,on off on. trust me i repair them and have for 19yrs, an amplifinectomy makes me allot of cash!!!! most high-end gear does not even have a power switch, some of the best do not even use standby! i use krell gear check it out krell@online.com

  2. First of all the majority of all Subwoofer[s] come with what they call a "auto" switch on the back panel of the sub I would really suggest that you just leave the switch on "auto"mode  and the purpose of that is to allow the sub to find a LFE signal (low frequency effect) when you are watching a movie or listing to music etc.    Now after you have finished your movies and or music by turning off your receiver and other sources the Sub after about 15, minutes or so should cut off on its own.

And this procedure will occur every time your receiver sends a LFE signal out to the sub, the sub will pick it up, and when their is no signal it will automatically shut off.

  3. Your sub should have a switch on the back with three settings:  On, Auto, and Off.  You should leave it on Auto.  It will only come on when it senses a signal and will turn itself off after a few minutes when it doesn't sense a signal (a few minutes after you turn your system off).

If you have a powered sub, I'm almost certain this is the case.  I can't imagine a powered sub that is only ON/OFF.  However, if this is your situation and you use your system regularly, I would leave it on.  I might only turn it off if I leave town or something like that.  I hope this helps.

  4. lol bigG is a wind up merchant!

and to all the poeple that have said "auto", not true! mine doesn't :) lol. gd old asda!

mine does however have a "standby" button on the front.

so really, mine always has power going to it, but isnt always trying to output something to the speakers etc.

if it was trying to put something out the whole time, it would get very worn out very fast!

but yes, they are right i think, don't switch it right off all the time. some form of standby mode should be an option, pick that. :)
