Home Depot (or other) CARPET CLEANERS?

When I am renting a carpet cleaner from Home Depot, Lowes, or wherever, what are the requirements? Do I need to make some sort of deposit? Do I need to drop off my credit card?

What's the rate for a one day rental?

  1. Here's a link from ehow for renting carpet cleaners. I'm going to rent one this weekend too.

  2. One day [24 hour] rental of a carpet cleaner at Home Depot is $25 plus any chemicals you need and damage protection coverage which is 10% of the rental. Sales tax is added where required.

The minimum price for carpet cleaner rental is $18 for 4 hours.

To rent the machine you need a driver's license (or passport or military ID or state issued ID if you don't drive) and you need a credit card as a deposit. You actually pay when you return the machine and may switch payment method to cash, gift card or check or a different credit/debit card or any combination thereof.  You don't "drop off" your credit card. They simply take the credit card info as a deposit. If you use a debit card it can take up to 5 days for your bank to release the hold on your debit/checking account. Damage protection is optional and covers anything that may go wrong with the machine under normal use. It does not cove accidental damage or abuse.

I have had customers tell me that the machine at Home Depot is much better than a Rug Doctor but it should not be used on berber or some oriental rugs.
