Home Health Question?

I don't work home health. I actually do private housekeeping. Some of my clients are older (elderly). Some I have cleaned for many years. Recently one of my clients has asked me to drive her to doctor/dental appts. that are over 1 hr. away from where we live. Sometimes after all the driving, running around, having lunch etc 5-6 hrs have passed. I guess my question is what should I charge them for my time? What I normally charge per hr.? For example last time I took a client to a dental appt. it was an hrs. drive there and back (2hrs total) plus she wanted to hit a few shops, have lunch etc. Then she didn't want to pay me other than my gas and stated she bought lunch too. What should I do? Go with it or charge here for all the time I am away from my home or when I could be working that 5-6 hrs for someone else? HELP!

  1. charge your normal rate + gas. it's not fair for them to try to take advantage of you, at least get paid for it.
