Home Heating Problems?

I live in an old house on a large property (8500acres) and the wiring is also very old and I cant seem to run enough electric heaters to warm the house. Does anyone know of any ideas on how I can make my home warmer without using electricity that wont cost me a fortune?

Rewiring the house will cost me thousands.

  1. one of the simplest is switch to LP heaters, then find out where all your heat is going, seal and insulate is a good place to start

  2. The only way if u have a fireplace.  If u need to heat ur house u must make sure u seal all the openings or cracks of the house.  U mentioned a old house....fireplaces are very popular in those days.  Check out the fireplace and make sure ur fluke is functioning and the vent is clear of bird nest and trash inside.  Load up on fire wood and u should keep the place warm......good luck.      A little elbow grease but worth it in cost.

  3. Insulate!! Spend a little now to  prevent the heat loss or spend alot later on your heating bills. The most cost effective way to heat your home would be a pellet stove. A little pricey up front but you will definitely notice the savings. If your in a house bigger than what you need consider sealing off those rooms your not using as much to keep the heat where you need it. but again....INSULATE!!!

  4. wood burner stove

  5. kerosene heaters work very well.....u can take them room to room if needed
