Alright so I currently now live in Missouri and im going to start my senior year of school...ive been in public school through the 11th grade and I was wondering if it would be difficult for me to finish my last required class or two at home...this is because I do not know anyone around here and I feel it would be a lot more comfortable surrounding...would I still get a diploma??? would I need more classes?? Or just the ones from the school I currently live next to???

  1. Well, at least you'll get a head-start to life.  remember your classmates are as important as life, either way you're gonna be prepared for it and could lead to one thing, college.  Hope you did good in high school.

  2. The prospect of changing schools near graduation is often unsettling.

I also had similar situation 30 years ago around your age when my parents decided it was best for the family to relocate.

In order to get that much demanded diploma, with the least amount of hassles....is to simply finish those last couple classes at local highschool.

I dont' know all the details of home schooling - but have heard that it does involve quite a bit of detailed paperwork...

Another point is - this is your new community and neighbors - take a chance on getting to know them now...they probably would like the chance to meet you too!   I know when I was "new kid" - I got invited into all sorts of fun things....  :)

  3. don't do homeschooling. that's very anti-social. go out meet people, have some fun yes you would probably get a diploma and only need the classes you need. but going to high school is all the fun. yeah it sucks but it just makes it that much better when you leave.

  4. I would contact a free online charter school in your area to find out everything you need to know. There are several in MO

    Missouri Virtual School

    St. Louis Virtual School

    Missouri Virtual Instruction Program

    Missouri Connections Academy

  5. Yes you can homeschool your senior year. You'd need to check Missouri's laws for any details, of course. You can make your own diploma if you want to. They aren't really that important. If you want to get into college, you'll need a transcript, so keep thorough records if you do end up homeschooling. If you want a "proper" diploma, I imagine you'd have to enrol in a state certified umbrella school.

  6. First off, pay no mind to Baby Jay, she has no clue about home schooling.  Home schooled kids are by far more social than their public school counterparts.  You can home school your senior year and there are many options as to how to do it.  You won't get a diploma through the school system, but a diploma is really nothing more than a piece of paper saying you completed required subjects.  In the real world you will probably never be asked for your diploma.  Another plus to home schooling is colleges actively seek out home schooled students.

  7. our eldest two kids now have degrees after home educating all their lives.

one is a degree qualified Nurse, another a writer with a masters degree, a third is studying to be an artist. the fourth at 14 has no idea what he wants yet but is looking at law.

school produces people with the same sort of logic as the person who said in one sentence that high school was fun, followed by the sentence saying that it sucked and then another saying the best thing was when you left.

    need I say more?
