I would like to start home schooling my oldest daughter. she will be going into the 7th grade, but everything I find is religious oriented.

Is there just a normal way to home school, without having to meet at churches, etc...?

And what are the average yearly fees, prices, etc for home schooling?

  1. You don't have to meet at churches in order to homeschool.  I think that you may be referring to religious based support groups.  Homeschooling generally takes place in ones home.

You should start by getting help to understand your state's laws.  The reason you are finding church schools for homeschooling in AL is because that is one of the options for homeschooling in your state.  You could homeschool under a church school even as a secular homeschooler and still choose your own curriculum.  The other option requires a certified teacher:

To choose a curriculum, start by looking at different homeschooling methods.  Here are some descriptions for you:

Here's a place that has some suggestions for secular materials:

Homeschooling can be anywhere from free up to thousands of dollars per year.  It all depends on what materials you use.  Here are some tips for affordable homeschooling:

    Good luck!
