Hello,

I was trying to set up my Onkyo Home Reciever model

TX-SV525 with my speakers. I was talking on the phone and not paying much attention and I accidentally connected the positive and negative speaker wires backwards. When I did this, the reciever display showed "Protect Mode" and now I can't get any sound out of it. How do I fix this? I perfectly turns on but no sound. Please help....

  1. Press "Video 1" and "CD" for a second, and if that doesn't work, look in your manual for the correct combination, or you can download the PDF from Onkyo's website.

I have a TX-SV501, and that is the reset combination for that unit.   p.s. nice receiver too!

  2. Ahh yeah check your manual about it or try the following:

-Turn it off / Unplug it for 15 minutes

    -Unplug / Replug everything

-Check around the case for a fuse

-Check around for a reset button / key code

-If problem persists its probably an internal fuse :(

If your don't feel comfortable opening it yourself then definately send it in.

  3. leave it disconnected for a while make sure you dissconnect all speaker wires and then plug it in and turn it on. if this doesn't work you might have to go in and check your speaker fuse. some companies put them in line with the output and some just have a relay as an isolation method in case there is an internal short or a bad connection externally. in anycase if your not comfortable with opening your unit do not.

    good luck.
