Home Theater surge protectors?

Question

I know that I need to get a more sufficient surge protector because my HT setup is well over $10,000 but I dont want to over play for a surge protector. What would you recommend? Please compare to other surge protectors too if possible.

I will agree with the Panamax and Tripp lite recommendation.  Another thing to consider is having a battery backup for some of your equipment.  Anything with a hard drive like Xbox 360, PS3, Home theater CPU, DVR should be on a battery back up in case of a power outage, so you can properly shut down your gear.

I need that information before making a recommendation and no one else should without doing the math first either!!

I have installed well over a hundred HT systems and can tell you that I always recommend Tripp-lite products like their Isobar models.  Granted they are not pretty by any means (like Monster brand) but with Monster costing 500.00 and Tripp-lite costing 70.00 and Tripp-lite does everything the Monster does (albeit without timed switching) it will more than protect your gear.

I would also look at buying a Tripp-lite Voltage regulator so that your system gets a steady power flow of 120 volts.  a VR costs about 120.00 so for under 200.00 you will get protection that matches Monsters all in one VR/Surge protection that costs 1,500.00

Also look at APC and Belkin brands also.

APC makes some good surge protectors for Computers and Home Theater.

I also know that Cyber Power is good too.

Make sure that you get one that has a cable connection, and possibly a phone one too to protect cable boxes, etc.

Panamax PM8-HT  $70-$80  

You need nothing else, and protects better than anything you'll find.  You will find people promoting other things, and that's fine.  You WON'T find anyone saying Panamax isn't the best product for any price.
