Question:

Home Treatment for Flat Feet?

I have flat feet and i want to get a little bit of an arch. I hate shopping and having to look for wide width shoes and sandals. Also i think they are making my pinky toes hurt when i walk or its something else.

Got any suggestions? Do they sell shoe insert arches for in stores?

How long does it take to see results?

* Dont want to go to a podiatrist b/c its not a major problem *

  1. Get some inserts. The good ones cost 50-75 dollars but it's a good investment. The custom made types run about 250-300. The cheaper ones need to be replaced every 6-9 months. They sell them in foot product stores or major drugstore chains. Good luck. Btw, with the passage of time, flat feet become a major problems because they affect the knees and hips.

@ Mattilda: the are called orthotics.

  2. Certain brands of shoes like New Balance tend to have better arch support built into their shoes than others.  If that's not enough, there are shoe inserts with arch support but you'll likely have to buy a slightly larger shoe to accommodate for the extra insert.  A foot doctor can tell you how much arch you need and order you orthodics (not sure how you spell it).
