Hello,

I called to see if I needed a license or permit to have an online home based business and the person answered back, "You need a license?" I was like, "Well, I don' t know that's why I am calling so I can find out if I need one." I also asked if I needed a DBA and she said she doesn't know and gave me a 1 800 number. She wasn't very friendly so I said thanks for your help and hung up. Anyways, I will be selling on eBay and also have my own website. What do you think should I be okay if I start selling?

  1. If you operate your business as a sole proprietorship (meaning the business operates under your name), no license is need.

However, one of the down fall for having a sole proprietorship is that you are solely responsible of all liabilities, and lawsuits.  For more information on business entities, feel free to email me at newmoola@newmoola.com
