  1. In Texas as far as I know homebound education is limited to someone with a medical disability.  The disability has to be something that would make it impossible for the child to attend a regular classroom for at least 6 weeks.  The program is under the special education umbrella of services in the state.  You could check with the special education department of your school district for specific guidelines.

  2. It doesn't have to be expensive to homeschool. It costs our parents approximately $50 a year for each of us kids who homeschool. You may be able to access free distance education programmes (provided online by your state etc) or it can be done for just the cost of a library card. Also don't forget to check out the countless free internet resources; other family members, neighbours, friends; local op-shops (for good deals on text books, materials); community resources etc etc.

  3. I was in homeschool for a year and my friend was in all her life k-12 and neva paid for nothing but her books and then she could return them being that she no longer needed them since she was passing and she got partical credit and bought the books for the next year. I forgot exactly how I did all this though, but I went through the county and bought the books in a store.

  4. You can homeschool nearly for free - or even for free.  There are public charter schools in nearly every state that offer free tuition, even a computer in some cases.

There is also free curriculum all over the internet.  You have to put it together, which takes a bit of time (not too much, but some), but it's free.  You can also find great deals on ebay.

At the mooment, I homeschool my fifth grader for around $100 per year...and the only reason for that is because he's a complete math whiz, and I pay for a curriculum that teaches him by DVD.  Everything else is either things that I've put together myself (from syllabi and lesson plans off the internet) or traded services for (I tutor a friend's child, she tutors mine - or I put in work in exchange for curriculum).

For homebound school, you need to prove a medical reason why your child can't attend school.  A friend of mine's son is homebound right now due to chemo treatments.  There has to be something pretty drastic, medically, in order to gain this service.

    Hope that helps!

  5. I homeschool and I do not spend much money. We have a few work books. Other than that, we go to the library, work online, buy old text books off the bargain table, or borrow from friends and family's private collections. Learning is a natural process. It is not costly.

  6. I'm sorry, I don't. But I do have tips!

    Go to yellowpages.com

And go on and search. Hope it helps!

  7. Homeschooling shouldn't be expensive. You don't have to sign up with anything--you can just do your own thing (although you may have to do your own thing within some certain minimum academic requirements). If you really want a program, http://www.k12.com may be available where you live. It is free.

Home-bound may or may not be available where you live. You'd need to talk to your daughter's school or the school board.
