Home builder looking for work in Costa Rica.?

hello, moving to costa rica on jan 7 2008 looking for work in Dominical or Uvita area. I have been building custom Home's in Florida and Virginia for the past 15 years.

  1. Are you familiar with the working laws in Costa Rica? There are many restrictions on foreigners working in the country. Generally, tourists are not allowed to legally work.

    Anyway, you can try to find jobs on craigslist, as they have a Costa Rica section.

  3. You will probably have plenty of oprotunities to build houses on the coast down there.  Dominical and Uvita are fairley undeveloped now.

  4. Coastal Building is booming in Costa Rica. And actually there is currently some labor shortage in the building area as well. Depending on your expectations (working for a company or setting up your own), there is big potential in this area. This site could help http://www.cfia.or.cr/

  5. Just so you know. The slaries here are a whole lot lower than in the states. Most builders in CR make $20 to $25 a day.

    Your best bet is to buy land, build for your self and rent or sell.     And in CR they go by meters and centimeters. And there are no Lowes or Home Depots there either so be prepared for a really big uncomfortable difference.
