Home entertainment center?

Question

when i try to play my ps3 my surround sound turns off and i only get sound out of the t.v little speaker.

my home station is sony HDMi

and i have no clue how to get the surround sound to work with it

i am going to do some assuming. since you have surround sound i guess you have a receiver. HDMI carries both audio and video and may require you to get another cable to run from your receiver to you TV. PS3 runs to receiver to dump off sound the receiver runs to TV to deliver Video....if this doesnt apply let me know and ill come up with something else
