Home entertainment system?

I'm starting from scratch. 40" Aquos 1080 dpi. Ok I want to add surround sound and a PS3 (games and blue ray DVD player). I want to play the PS3 through the surround. Should I get a home theater in a box or Get another type of system with all the hdmi hook ups? I need to know which sound system to go with.

get an audio receiver.  Get the one with enough inputs on it.  

I suggest a JVC Bundle from Walmart, comes with Receiver and 5.1 surround sound speakers.

    You should get another type of system ( receiver + speakers ), but if you want all HDMI hook ups you have to spend over $1000 for the good one.
