My home insurance canceled for nonpayment because bank froze my account at the same time I processed my payment and I did not know till it was to late and my payment was rejected. I took care of the bank problem and my account is unfrozen and the cancelation letter states that the cancelation takes effect June 24 at 12:01 Am. If I call them and explain what happened monday morning do you think they will reinstate the policy if I make the payment again and it clears my bank this time?

  1. They will reinstate the policy if you pay prior to the cancellation. They will probably require a credit card payment or a payment by phone.

  2. If you dont have any previous losses they will probably reinstate the policy. Basically, if you're a money maker for them they will reinstate.

  3. Most of the time, yes.  Look at the cancellation notice - does it say " if payment is received before cancellation date we will rescind this notice"?

You might want to play it safe and drop the payment off at the agent's office.  Ask for a signed, dated receipt.  But after a NSF check, they'll want a money order or certified check - they won't want a regular check.
