Hi, i have the most comprehensive home insurance cover, i have the most expensive insurance available in order to cover everything, i mean everything, even my guests. I obviously have a high monthly premium, i have had to recently make a claim on my laptop and have previously for other items, and it seems that my excess keeps rising, my cover doesnt allow my premiums to be affected but I'm not sure about the excess, are they allowed to increase the excess, it started at £25 but now it is at £125 which is crazy especially since I pay a fortune each month... Are they allowed to increase the excess without notifying and without your consent?

  1. OK, you posted this on the USA board, so you're going to get USA answers.

An insurance company doesn't NEED your consent to increase the rates.   Your notice is the renewal premium bill, and your consent, is your paying it.  If you don't like the rates, you have to move to a different insurance company.
