  1. Your insurance should pay, but your deductible would apply.  Most people have a $250 or $500 deductible.  The insurance is only going to pay for anything ruined above your deductible.  You would have to show something that would account for that much food in there, a receipt for 1/2 beef, or a picture.

  2. I'm not sure if you would get paid out now as by putting the wrappers in the bin without taking photos you have destroyed the evidence.

  3. Food deterioration is normally covered under a house contents insurance policy (unless due to cutting off by the electricty company for payment default)|.

You won't be able to claim for the fridge itself under a house insurance policy - as breaking down is not an insured peril (do you have an extended warranty?)

You should read the policy about the conditions you must adhere to to make a valid claim for loss of food. Also a list of the food destroyed is required.

  4. Well, for the insurance company i work for you can definately

claim for the contents of the fridge/freezer. prob not the

actuall fridge itself especially if was down to wear and tear.

They may have asked for photos of the defrosted food

to prove your not trying to make a fraudulent claim. However,

most insurance companys will try and wriggle out of paying if poss. hopefully you'l be o.k and that helped.
