I am known as the chef to everyone so when people need something food like they come to me. I do not now or have any idea on how to make mild salsa. It is for my friends party. Not a birthday party, its a random party she is having. It cannot taste like ketch-up and cant involve a million different things that you have to go somewhere other than the grocery store.

Thank you.

  1. Easy Salsa

1 28 oz can crushed tomatoes

    1/2 cup fine  chopped onion

1/3 cup fine  chop bell pepper

    1 large  garlic, crushed

    1 teaspoon salt

    3/4 teaspoon cumin

14 ounce can (1/2cup)  dice  green chilies

    2 teaspoons jalpeneo peppers minced

1 tablespoon fresh clantro (produce dept)

    Combine  well,  chill  serve,  enjoy!

  2. So make pico de gallo instead - same idea only it's not pureed.

  3. Finely Chopped Onions

    Finely Chopped Garlic

    Cilantro (Whole or Chopped)

    Parsley (Whole or Chopped)

    Green Jalapenos

    Red Birds Eye Jalapenos (Optional)

    Bell Pepper

Diced Tomatoes Fresh Or Peeled Canned Is Okay.

    Sugar

    Salt

    Lemon Juice

    Cayenne Pepper

    Black and White Pepper.

    Method:

Heat Enough Olive Oil To Saute The Vegetables With A Little Excess Oil Left.

    1. Saute Cilantro, Parsley, Garlic and Onions Till They Become Almost Transparent.

    2. Add The Jalapenos and Continue To Sautee Them On Low Heat

    3. Once The Jalapenos Become Soft Add the Bell Pepper and   Sautee To Light Green

4.Add The Diced Tomatoes and Mix Everything Together. Once The Tomatoes Start To Melt Add Your Salt, Pepper, Lemon etc To Taste. And Allow To Simmer Till It Thickens

    5. At This Point, Turn Off Heat and Add Just A Little Sprinkle Of Sugar and Mix.

Sugar Sounds Weird I Know, But Is Stops The Tomatoes From Becoming Sour and The Lemon Stops The Sugar From Becoming Caramelized. But Use Only Use A Little Sugar.

As Far As the Quantities Go, Its Up To You and How Many People Its For.

  4. I use:

2 or 3 large tomatos, cubed

Two jalapenos, Or chiles of your choice, diced-something milder if you want

    1 red onion, diced

    1 clove garlic, diced

    4 tomatillos, diced

2 tbls. lemon or lime juice, just cut one in half and squeeze all the juice in.

    fresh cilantro. cut fine

    2 tsp. sea salt

    black pepper to taste.

I put some cayenne and smoky paprika in mine but its not neccesary

mix all togeter well, put in a glass container with lid,

let it sit for a few hours to blend in refridgerator.

    Its easy and awesome.

I make this all out of my garden, so Its pretty fast. I like to use the knife, so I do it that way, it would be fine to put all the stuff in a blender or a FP if you wanted to.

It does NOT taste like ketchup

This is great in an omelet, too with just some jack cheese

  5. Briana,

I cook alot too and people are generally happy with my food.

I have one word of advice:  cheat.

    Yep. That's right.

Take a jar of your favorite salsa from the grocery store.  Salsas that are salsas don't taste ketchupy.  I know what you mean by that.  It's a nasty flavor if you aren't eating hot fries.  Add in a bunch of fresh ingredients.  Mix them together in a food processor.  Wa La.

At the grocery store (all easily available stuff here) get:

    3 or 4 tomatoes.

    One bundle of cilantro.

Some garlic (small jar of minced garlic is ok)

A jalepeno pepper (I did not forget the mild request..be patient here but get the pepper).

Peel the tomatoes and cut out the core.  Tear the cilantro off the stems, and add all that and the salsa to a food processor.  Add a half a teaspoon of garlic.

The jalepeno pepper needs special attention.  Carefully slice it down the middle - vertically.  In running cold water, push all the seeds out.  Push out the white stuff that lines the inside of the pepper too.  Cut the top off.  What is left will have a nice jalepeno flavor but it will be super mild.   99% of the heat is in the inside of the pepper.  Try this first and you'll believe me.  Take a bite.

Add it to the food processor, and mix it all up.  That's it!

    Good luck

    Kevin

  9. If you want salsa mexican style..you'll need

    Diced Tomatoes (cans work)

    Cilantro

Jalapeno peppers (quantity depending on how spicy you like it)

    Lime (1 is enough)

Garlic (1 small bud is enough)

    Add Salt for flavor.

Comine them all in a blender and let her rip till it's as refined as you like it and you're ready to go.

    Viva Mexico!

    Salud!

  10. to keep it from tasteing like ketchup... use a recipie that calls for fresh veggies ( diced) and spices.

8 Fresh vine ripe right from the garden Tomatoes, chopped

4 small Tomatillo, remove the papery skin and chop

½ cup of fresh cilantro, chopped

2-4 whole green onions, including the green part; chopped

    Jalapeno peppers to taste.

½ bell pepper, seeds removed and finely chopped

    1 lime, juiced

    ½ teaspoon Kosher Salt

Combine all the chopped ingredients into a bowl stir lightly. Squeeze the lime juice over the homemade salsa.

This flavorfully mild homemade salsa can be served immediately, but its flavor will be enhance after allow the salsa to season for about an hour or over night in the refrigerator.
