Home of Cincinnati Bengals’ Antwan Odom seriously damaged by fire
Cincinnati Bengals’ defensive end Antwan Odom’s suburban home was heavily damaged by a fire in the early hours of Tuesday night.
The Mason Fire Department situated just north of Cincinnati, Ohio said that they responded to a 911 emergency call at around 2:30 AM about a fire. When they arrived at the scene, the fire appeared to be very serious as it had already caused the roof of the home to collapse.
Fire officials say that the professional defensive end was out of town with his wife, four sons and a daughter. They have not been able to start the investigation of the fire since unstable areas and hot spots are still a hazard. The home has 6,000 square feet of living space and was built in 2000. It is estimated to be worth almost $1.2 million, according to the Warren County Certified Public Accountant’s website.
In his five years at the University of Alabama, Odom played in 39 games and accumulated 98 tackles, 26 tackles for a loss and 21 sacks. During his freshman year, he started two of the games that he played in, taking part in all of them.
In Odom’s sophomore year, he sustained a torn labrum on his left shoulder, requiring surgery, but met the requirements of the National Collegiate Athletic Association to be eligible for one more year. In his second year as a senior, he participated in all 13 games with Alabama Tide and managed 42 tackles and 10 sacks that season.
In Odom’s junior season, he started every game of the season as right defensive end and was named as All-Southeastern Conference. He had 40 tackles, eight sacks and 9.5 tackles for a loss, earning the team’s Most Valuable Lineman Award.
After being selected by the Tennessee Titans 57th overall in the third round of the 2004 National Football League Draft, Odom started eight of the 16 games that he played in during his rookie season. His best season was in 2007 when he started all 16 games with the Titans and had 26 tackles and eight sacks, along with seven passes deflected and two forced fumbles.
Odom signed with the Bengals after becoming a free agent at the end of the 2007 season.
