  1. France is a republic now i believe, but when there was a monarchy they lived mostly in the palace of versailles.

  2. The French monarch had many royal residences. These include:

    - The Royal Château de Blois is located in the Loir-et-Cher département in the Loire Valley, in France. The residence of several French kings.

    - The Château de Choisy was a sometime royal French residence in the commune of Choisy-le-Roi in the Val-de-Marne département, not far from Paris. The commune was given its present name by Louis XV, when he purchased the manor of Choisy and its château in October 1739.

    - The royal Château de Chambord at Chambord, Loir-et-Cher, France is the largest castle in the Loire Valley, but was built to serve only as a hunting lodge for King François I, who maintained his royal residences at Château de Blois and at Château d'Amboise.

  3. french kings and queens have separate estates and official residence and you have to be more specific. there is the palaca de la cite, the first royal palace, the louvre (2nd), the tuileries (3rd), all found in paris. there is the versailles, the grand and petit trianon, all royal palaces in versailles, south of france. the chateau de fontainebleu in ile-de-france. there are numerous castles and mansions scattered around france that are owned and lived by the french royals and the aristos, so which is which? the list continues and you'll only have a headache reading them and need a very large budget if youre planning to visit them all. after all, france has a rich history that spanned thousands of years in the making and dont ever think that you can count the numerous properties acquired through that time. but all of them are magnificent specimens of architectures.

  4. The Kings and Queens of France had many homes.  For a long time, every king built his own new palace, each one out-doing the previous one.

Versailles was the last one built, but there was Fontainebleu, The Louvre, the Palais Royale, several along the Loire Valley, including Chambourd and Chenonceau.  And several "hunting lodges", so, which one do you mean?

  5. If you are referring to King Louis XVI and the Queen, Marie Antoinette, they lived in Versailles.

  6. Versailles

  7. There is no monarch in France, currently. The last time there was, over 200 years ago, they lived at Versailles.
